The Cour Windfarm Community Benefit Fund

Cour Windfarm was commissioned in 2016 (energised in March 2017) and has 10 turbines, with total nominal power of 20.5 MW. The developer was Blue Energy Wind Limited. Octopus purchased the wind farm in 2017.

The Cour Community Fund is a fund that has been established to support the communities local to the wind farm and is administered by FERN Community Funds . Ideally, the Fund aims to support projects that improve the local community; anything which promotes the economic, social or environmental sustainability of the local area.

What is the benefit?

The benefit size is £102,500 per year. If there are any funds left over, these will be rolled over to the following year.

Eligible areas:

East Kintyre, West Kintyre, Skipness and Tarbert

Who can apply and benefit? 

Social enterprises, charities, local community groups, voluntary organisations.

How much funding can be applied for?

The minimum award is £250. The maximum award figure is £50,000; however, in exceptional circumstances, this may be increased for larger projects applications.

The Fund will support up to 90% of the overall project costs (e.g. if your overall project cost is £1,000, the fund may support up to £900 of this by the grant).

East Kintyre Post Office & Shop

Carradale Community Trust was extremely pleased to announce the purchase of the Carradale Post Office.

Our community would like to thank everyone who has worked so very hard in making this happen and accessing funds for the refurbishment. We would not be celebrating without the generous support of funders, including Cour Windfarm.

Carradale Village Hall

The Village Hall Committee were pleased to receive funds from Cour Fund for the Architect Fees for the refurbishment of the Hall’s kitchen and toilet area. The Village Hall is well used by the community and a much appreciated by all who visit.


Carradale Surgery Couch

The couch is wider and is hydraulically operated to allow raising and lowering which will be of great benefit to many of our patients and the GP.

Shopper-Aide Ltd

Shopper-Aide Ltd was established in Campbeltown, Kintyre, Argyll & Bute in April 2011 in response to the issue of social isolation, to provide services and support for older people with volunteers.Cour Fund is a strong supporter of Shopper-Aide Ltd.
